Advisory Council

The MSCA Advisory Council serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to MSCA's Program Director and team. Responsibilities include:

ADVISORY COUNCIL CHARTER

Purpose and Responsibilities

The Advisory Council does not have formal authority to govern MSCA, but rather serves to make recommendations and/or provide key information and materials to MSCA's Program Director and team.  Responsibilities include:

  • Program Direction and Evaluation (P & E):  Provide advice regarding program implementation, operations, evaluation, and assessment.  Identify technology, education and business trends that MSCA and educators should be aware of to enhance the program for students, as well as evaluation and assessment tools to measure the impact of the program.

  • Volunteer Support and Outreach (V & O):  Confirm procedures to identify, recruit, and retain volunteers from the corporate sector, educational institutions, and other organizations for the MSCA Student Tech Leadership program; identify other outreach activities.

  • Public Relations (PR):  Promote and market MSCA and its services among the education, information technology, business sectors, and the community in general.

  • Funding (F): Provide advice regarding program funding and help MSCA connect with organizations and individuals that have the capacity to financially support the organization.

Membership

The MSCA Advisory Board will consist of at least 15 members who bring unique knowledge and skills that complement the capabilities of MSCA personnel. Membership will consist of representatives from various sectors in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area to include education, information technology, non-profit, business, and the larger community.


Activities

Members will attend 2 Advisory Council meetings per year as well as an MSCA Corporate Volunteer Partnership Recognition Reception held each spring. Each member shall serve on one of the Action Teams established by the Advisory Council. Meeting schedules will be determined by each Action Team.
