MOUSE Squad of California (MSCA) developed from National TECH CORPS, which began in 1995. TECH CORPS California (TCCA) was launched in 2001. TCCA added Student TECH CORPS in California in 2003.

In 2004, TCCA became a subsidiary of Aspiranet, formerly Moss Beach Homes (MBH), a nonprofit organization that provides afterschool, youth development and community technology programs as well as children and family services in California.

In 2006, TCCA became MOUSE Squad of California (MSCA), continuing as a program of Aspiranet and licensing content and structure from MOUSE (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools and Education), a New York City-based nonprofit founded in 1998.

In the 2006-2007 school year, MOUSE Squad Student Tech was launched in 20 schools in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Oakland and the Central Valley. Doubling in the 2007-2008 school year, 40 schools offered MOUSE Squad Student Tech to their students.

MOUSE Squad of California Student Tech is now statewide and is being offered in 70+ schools!
