MOUSE Squad Funding Sources

MOUSE Squad Mini-Grants

Support for MOUSE Squad of California (MSCA) expansion is provided by a nonprofit designated fund from Silicon Valley Community Foundation, set up by a private donor, to Aspiranet for qualified California schools.

Grant:
$250 to $1,000
Eligibility: Public upper elementary, middle, and high schools in California
Award Criteria: Applicants should describe the need for a student tech leadership program, videos or other projects planned to assist with tech support instruction, community partnerships, and tools to measure impact of program. Preference will be given to schools with significant levels of underserved students. Schools are encouraged to form clusters of two or more schools in their geographic area. Applicant schools should demonstrate the need for logistical and personnel support necessary for a successful MOUSE Squad Student Tech program.
Application: If you are eligible and wish to apply for this grant, please select "yes" on Question 13 in the Application form.

  • NOTE: As a mini-grant recipient, you will be expected to complete:
    • Student Skills Tracker Assessment (pre- and post-MOUSE Squad)
    • Description/demonstration of MOUSE Squad student activities or project
    • End-of-year survey
The Affinity Grant Program Due Date: Open, but funding is limited so submit your request right away
Grant: Open amount
Eligibility: San Francisco Unified Schools with low income students wanting to participate in extracurricular lessons or activities that their families are unable to afford
Award Criteria: San Francisco Unified School District teachers, administrators, counselors, and staff who work directly with students are eligible to apply for a maximum of two grants in a one-year period, one per student or group.

Best Buy Teach Awards Due Date: Every 15 days
Grant: $1,500 (as a Best Buy gift card)
Agency: Best Buy
Eligibility: Middle, and high schools (grades 7-12) nationwide (afterschool programs and VoTech schools not eligible)
Award Criteria: Awarded every 15 days. Teen members will be able to vote once a day for a nominated school. At the end of the 15 day voting period, votes will be tallied and the nominated schools with the most votes will be granted the Teach@15 Award. The winning school will use the award to purchase any Best Buy products that meet the need described by the Member in the online nomination form.
