Rewind: Digital Storytelling with Tekserve
On March 2nd, MOUSE teamed up with Tekserve to host a Digital Storytelling workshop. Participants gained an understanding of the key elements of storytelling and learned the basics of pre-production, story boarding and scripting.
Forming teams, they set out to create stories around one of the following concepts:
- Apathy to Compassion - a person recognizes a wrong they have unintentionally done and makes things right
- Conflict to Resolution - a person at odds with a person or situation solves the issue
- Anger to Acceptance - a person comes to terms with another who has wronged them.
- Fear to Courage - a person faces a painful situation with fortitude.
Using standard Nikon and Canon point-and-shoot cameras, students filmed compelling stories throughout the halls of International High School. With the footage captured, they used a combination of Apple's iMovie and Garageband to build their final masterpiece.
In total, four original short films were created from the following schools:
- Manhattan School for Career Development
- Access High School
- International High School
Thanks to John Chadwell, Education Professional Services Manager for leading the Digital Storytelling workshop and to International High School for hosting the event.
