MOUSE Corps: Frequently Asked Questions
We're actively recruiting a few good MOUSE Squaders for the MOUSE Corps 2010 - 2011 Team! Because MOUSE Corps has so many different components, there are a lot of questions to how things work with shadowships, internships, Legacy Projects and the rest. Hopefully the following FAQ will shed some light:
How do I join MOUSE Corps?
You must be a high school student to join MOUSE Corps. If you are in high school, join the program by clicking on the following link: www.mousesquad.org/joinmousecorps
When should I apply for MOUSE Corps?
Now is the best time to apply. Even if you are thinking about Summer Internships or Spring Shadowships, you will need to be a member of MOUSE Corps and attend prerequisite workshops which happen well in advance of the start of Shadowships or internships.
What is the schedule for MOUSE Corps?
The MOUSE Corps schedule varies based on the members of the MOUSE Corps team and the component you participate in. Workshops and meetings typically take place after school or on weekends. The days of the week are flexible based on MOUSE Corps team members' availability. If you have specific questions about how your schedule will work with MOUSE Corps, you can contact Krizia at [email protected]
I'm interested in the Shadowships but don't have time for other events. Can I still apply?
Absolutely! The MOUSE Corps Program, much like MOUSE Squad is Opt-In. That means you can participate in as little or as much as you have time for. However if you join too late in the school year, you could miss out on the required workshops for the things that you really want. The best way to make sure you get the most out of the program and are always in the loop is to APPLY NOW!
Will this Qualify for Community Service Credits?
Yes, several components of the MOUSE Corps program are designed for community service. Legacy Projects offer 16-weeks of community service! Plus you learn a lot about the technology you love along the way, whether that be Film, Media, Programming or Web Design.
Where do MOUSE Corps Meetings take place?
Many workshops/meetings take place at MOUSE Headquarters in Manhattan. Often, students will meet in smaller project teams in other locations. We're always happy to host MOUSE Corps workshops at your (easy to get to) location as well!
