Maker Faire 2013 Was Awesome!
Thanks for making this year's Maker Faire a big success, New York City! On Saturday September 21st, 43 Mouse Squad students came to Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science in Queens.
Students participated from the following schools:
- P.S. 89 Cypress Hills Community School
- James Madison High School
- Stephen A. Halsey School, JHS 157
- Dr. Susan S. McKinney High School for the Perming Arts
- Mott Hall Charter School
- In-Tech Academy MS/HS 368
Students completed a scavenger hunt challenge throughout the course of the day, using the Google Keep app on our new Nexus 7 tablets to record the different things they found. We saw projects involving 3D printing, green technology, and even interviewed some of the makers with the voice recorder.
This year the Mouse Corps students had their own booth at the Young Maker tent where they gave demonstrations of their Legacy Projects, a group of projects designed to support people living with Cerebral Palsy. They had an amazing time sharing their interactive projects with fellow makers of all ages! Mouse Corps also had the opportunity to lead an activity with the HIVE where visitors could make their own light up LED pins.
Are you a high schooler interested making cool stuff? Join the Mouse Corps! Apply by Oct. 1. To find out more, check out this Wire post!
Everyone who participated in the scavenger hunt got a mini-foam finger to take home! Thanks so much to everyone who came, it was an amazing kick off to a great year of Mouse Squad!
