Congratulations NYC on Our First Ever Maker Saturday!

Mouse hosted our first ever Maker Saturday on April 16th, combining all the fun of our monthly Maker Nights with additional activities from some of our friends at Hive NYC.

At Maker Saturday, makers of all ages came together to tinker, code, and make at 7 different stations with Mouse staff and volunteers from 4 other organizations. Each station focused on a different type of making.

Mouse Maker Saturday Make Stations:

  • Climate Game Jam, Hosted by BrainPop
  • Collaborative Drawing, Hosted by GroundSwell
  • Coding Corner, Hosted by Roy Venegas, Elena Barrio, and Mariama Bah
  • DIY Game Controllers with Makey Makey
  • LED Crafting with Arduinos
  • Mouse Design Challenge (View Design Challenge projects)
  • Paper Circuits and 3D Design, Hosted by MakerState

Each station offered learners the ability to try a different project for the first time, or to expand their skills by learning from experts that hosted each station. In addition, everyone could add their own drawing to our collaborative whiteboard wall!

The day was divided into two sessions with a lunch in between each session. At the end of the day, students shared highlights about what they learned and made. To check out some of these projects, visit our Mouse Maker Hall of Fame.

Thanks all of our volunteers that joined us at Maker Saturday and huge shoutout to our student makers from across NYC for making with us!
