PlayTech Saturday: Still Awesome!
Thank you New York City for another fantastic PlayTech Saturday!
On Saturday, November 23rd a group of excited Mouse Squad members and coordinators gathered at Parsons The New School for Design to have fun at PlayTech Saturday!
PlayTech gives Mouse Squad members the chance to test out the latest games and projects being designed by graduate students at Parsons. Some of these games are almost finished and some are just the seeds of an idea. The feedback from Mouse Squad members helps determine the shape of these games in the future. Oh yeah...there's free pizza too!
Mouse Squad students came out from all over the city, including Squads from:
- South Bronx Academy for Applied Media
- Robert F. Wagner Middle School
- Hudson High School for Learning Technologies
- J.H.S. 157 Halsey
- James Madison High School
- Manhattan Bridges High School
- High School for Language and Diplomacy
- IS 228 David A. Boody and
- High School for Enterprise, Business and Technology
PlayTech attendees got to test console games, iPad games, board games, and other multimedia projects that weren't necessarily games. We played capture the flag with ninjas, used remote controlled army robots, and surfed the ocean in virtual reality. We can't wait to see what the next version of these games will be like!
Everyone at PlayTech Saturday also got a chance to play Mouse's very own "PlayTech: The Game" in order to win a PlayTech Saturday wrist band that also doubled as a flash drive! How cool is that?!
In order to win prizes, all the players had to do was give their opinions on the games at PlayTech (what were their favorites? what would they change?). We also asked Mouse Squad members to come up with their own idea for a game. Our top 10 favorites received a special prize. At the end of the day, all Mouse Students got a page of Mouse stickers.
