October MicroProject: Scare us with a SpoOky Squad Radio Story!
Hey there, Squad members!
We all know that October is the spookiest month of the year so we have a special spooky MicroProject for you this month. Tell us a scary squad story as if you're doing an old radio show about a time that you had to do something mysterious and chilling with your squad. Your squad is kind of a like a detective agency or a bunch of Ghost Busters. People come to you when they need help and Mouse Squad gets the job done!
Your Mission (should you choose to accept it):
- Brainstorm your story by thinking about your favorite scare movies, books and shows. Will it include vampires, werewolves, witches, ghouls and goblins? Or will it be an unsolved mystery in a creepy, crawly lab or the secret basement of your school?
- Write a script of a spooky scary story about the adventures of your Mouse squad.
- Record it as if it were going to be played on the radio, old school style. It doesn’t need to be a true story, but it does need to be about your Mouse Squad and be appropriate for school.
- Create a blog post with the audio from your story so we can all listen to it!

More ideas:
- Someone approached your squad with a case, but after looking into the issue it turned out that he had already been dead for 20 years!
- A killer virus has infected the schools computers that find out everyone’s most embarrassing secrets and posts them on a blog or status update on a social site that everyone reads. Only by using your Squad’s extreme cunning were you able to defeat it and take all the photos and embarrassing secrets down!
- note: In order for your story to be as eerily and creepily descriptive as possible, it should be at least 150 words.
To make your story you can use a variety of free sound editing software programs!
FREE TOOLS:
GarageBand (Mac only)
Audacity
Myna from Aviary
To make a radio play you'll need to use a computer with a built in microphone or connect a microphone to your computer as well. Most laptops have a built-in microphone, so don't be afraid to check it out!
TO SUBMIT:
Write your story in a public blog post and then share it with the Mouse Squad network. Make sure to include "2011 October MicroProject" in the title. After you record your radio play, just attach the audio file to the blog post. It's that easy!
We're shaking in our shoes waiting to hear what ghastly story you'll come up with! BOO!
This MicroProject is brought to you by Mouse Training Specialists Patrick the Prankster and Rachel the Romping Zombie.
