November MicroProject: The Virtual Tour!
Do you have Squad Pride? Ever wonder what other Squads look like on the job?
Squads operate on their own, and usually the only time one squad will interact with another is here on mousesquad.org. That’s why the challenge for this month is to show off your school and the ways your Squad helps keep your school running smoothly.
Using video, pictures, audio or whatever media you choose, take us on a virtual tour of your home base. Here is a tour of ours:
Some things you might want to include on your tour:
- Show us a typical day at your school with your squad.
- Where do you meet?
- What do you do when you meet?
- Introduce us to your members and Coordinator.
- How do you operate as a squad?
- How do you handle tech problems?
- What is one thing that makes your squad special?
- And tell us the one thing you love most about MOUSE Squad!
MOUSE Squad is about working together, so please visit the squad blogs, reach out to other squads when you see their virtual tours and comment on their posts. You'll probably have a lot to say, and they'll be happy to hear from another squad across the country (or across the city)! What do you see that is different from the way you do things in your squad? What is the same? How is your community different from other squads? Is there anything you saw another squad do that you would like to bring to your squad?
Your tour doesn't need to be a video like ours.
If you do decide to make a video, you can use the following tools to put it together. If you don’t have a video camera, that's OK! You can make a slide show using a regular digital camera or draw us pictures and narrate it. You can take pictures from a digital video camera or draw on the computer and put them into movie making software like Windows Movie Maker.

- Windows Movie Maker (PC)
- iMovie (Mac)
- Avidemux
- YouTube has its own built in video editor as well!
- (You can use GoAnimate again for this project. Take photos of your Squad and use them as the background of your animations so your characters can show us around)
To make a photo slide show:
- Animoto
- iPhoto (Mac)

- Papertronics Lunar Modules for runners up! Papertronics are paper toys with paper electronic circuits in them that you build yourself!
***Remember you can import images into video editing software like Windows Movie Maker or iMovie too. You can even add narration to create a true virtual tour.
To Upload your video or photo slideshow:
When you've uploaded your video or photo slideshow, remember to embed it or link it into a squad blog post and title it "November MicroProject"! November MicroProjects must be submitted by 11:59pm on Wednesday, November 30th.
