D.I.Y. Project- Prototyping Form

Prototyping Form: Design Document #1

Please answer the questions below with your squad. Your answers should reflect the brainstorming that your squad has done so far about what issues you might want your D.I.Y. Project to address, how you might decide what the best tool for the job is (website, video, etc.), and what resources you know you have available.

This form is here to help your squad organize your ideas, and to help keep track of your prototyping process: all the steps you go through on your way to creating a final product.

Remember, to be considered for the Show Your Work Award, you must submit all of the following Design Documents:

To be considered for the Squads' Choice Award, you must submit your D.I.Y. Project by May 6th. Otherwise, all projects are due by May 13th.

These descriptions can be very short-even just 1 sentence each.

Take into consideration the resources you have at your school, and the skills and strengths of you, the Squad Members.
The "platform" is the format your project takes--a website, video, PowerPoint presentation, etc.

Think about what kind of research you can do to determine which of your squad's project ideas would best serve a need at your school or in your community. Research might include doing a survey at your school, taking inventory of what resources your school or community already has that relate to the topic, etc.

Think about the resources you have available--what equipment your school has, what additional equipment you might be able to get, and what skills your squad has that might be useful. Also think about what the most useful product might be for the users you have in mind--for example, if your product is meant to be used by students at your school, which platform would make more sense: a website, or a video?
