DHS MOUSE Squad Changes Lives

The MOUSE Squad at Davis Senior High School created this short film to demonstrate how they changed  a life.   I dare say, it's lots of fun.

We're happy to host and post other videos and materials.  Check out the post on Creative Commons to avoid copyright headaches.

Hats off to the Squad at DHS for job well done.

NYC PodCamp, 2008

Podcamp is a growing phenomenon. Media-makers from all over the globe are organizing "un-conferences" in cities near you where, in unison with the "consumers as producers" phenomenon, conference participants are the presenters. Topics, therefor, are whatever you envision them to be. From latest research on social media networks to soup-to-nuts how-to's, you can create whatever strand suits you within the growing world of networked, home-brewed media.

I had the pleasure of attending this year's Podcamp, NYC, at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute today, and want be sure to relay to the greater MOUSE community what an important opportunity these conferences present. First off, they're FREE! If the pricepoint doesn't get you, then envision MOUSE students running workshops for a national audience on the topic of their choice. Through conversation, it became abundantly clear how much this community itches to see and hear about practical ways that these modes of creating and consuming can impact the lives and practice of students and educators like ours. The call to action: look out for Podcamps in cities close to your squad - think seriously about all of the projects and products you and your teams have to share with this community and don't be shy about presenting a session. The audience at these events are incredibly supportive and, like us, have so much to learn from our students.

Find the short description of Podcamp, NYC below, or check out a link to this year's conference site.

Podcamp NYC is an “unconference” focused on educating participants on how to use, implement and share any/all new media tools including, podcasts, videocasts, blogs, Second Life, Facebook, and YouTube. The conference is FREE to attend and you’re a “participant” versus an “attendee” at our event. You also make our conference happen since you register to speak. You can talk about anything you want as long as it focuses on new media.
